Former Doctor Charged with Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors report that a former physician now faces charges for carrying out assaults involving 38 individuals who were patients.
Details of the Grave Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of acts of sexual assault – including some against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.
A deputy chief CPS official commented, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to support a thorough and intricate police inquiry, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Police Inquiry
These allegations follow what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
The defendant is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
Breakdown of Charges
Prosecutors said the forty-five sexual offences include:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
