Grief as Popular South African DJ Gunned Down in the City of Johannesburg.
A renowned South African radio and club DJ has been shot dead in the nation's economic hub Johannesburg, sending shockwaves across a country struggling with rampant crime.
Warrick Stock, who went by the name DJ Warras, was shot and killed in the central business district on a Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities reported the 40-year-old media personality was confronted by three suspects, with one shot at him before escaping on foot.
The motive of the incident is unknown and no one has been arrested have been made, according to authorities.
Details of the Attack
Authorities revealed that Stock was ambushed as he was leaving a building near the Carlton Centre.
He had devoted time at the site managing the setup of safety equipment, which had been controversially occupied by squatters, as per local media.
"Authorities believe the deceased was approached by three unknown suspects after he parked his car, and they opened fire at him before escaping on foot," authorities confirmed.
Surveillance tape showed a man with dreadlocks and clad in what appeared to be a security uniform opening fire on Stock before making his escape.
The DJ tried to run away after he was hit but succumbed to his injuries a short distance away.
Police added that Stock had an gun that was not fired and no items were stolen during the attack.
Crucial forensic evidence, like bullet casings, were recovered from the crime scene.

Authorities have requested anyone who saw the event who may have witnessed the attack to contact them.
"We know they traveled on foot after the shooting, and investigators have been attempting to locate them to determine their location," remarked an authority figure.

"Words fail me. I don't have words," were her words.

Stock was the host of Ngicel' iVisa, a television program that premiered on a popular local digital satellite entertainment channel.
Apart from his role as a presenter, Stock was active in various entrepreneurial pursuits, including private security, offering VIP protection services and securing high-profile events across South Africa.
He was also said to be engaged in building administration and participated in building evictions.

His killing has shocked the country and led to an wave of remembrances from his fans, the authorities and political parties.
A senior figure said he was furious and grief-stricken by Stock's untimely death.
"He was forthright without fear or favour. He even spoke up against me and my actions as a public official. He was a true embodiment of who we ought to be," he stated.
