A revitalized the Russian player won his first championship for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

The Russian, a former number one, has experienced a difficult period, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.

His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in specific - led to him dropping out of the world's top 10 and ultimately splitting with long-time coach Cervara.

Presently working with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - peaking in a closely contested three-set triumph over opponent Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's maiden trophy since the Rome competition and initial on a hard court after spring of that year.

Victory also signifies Medvedev has secured twenty-one championships at twenty-one various competitions.

"This title is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the first title I won when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six title deciders, including in that event in the past months.

His retrieving approach and frequent emotional displays on court had led commentators to doubt if his skill to perform at the top level was finished.

However the player has made changes in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and compete positively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.

Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging opponent, winning 4 of the last five points to take the lead.

Both players traded break points in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his maiden ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to push for a decider.

The opponent saved four early opportunities in a close final set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Appropriately, the winner secured victory with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman failing to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
