The Blue Jays Secure World Series Showdown Versus Los Angeles Dodgers
George Springer was instrumental for the Houston Astros claiming the World Series in 2017.
Canada's MLB team reached their first championship series following 1993 by overcoming the Seattle Mariners in the decisive Game 7 of the American League Championship Series.
Behind 3-1, outfielder George Springer smashed a three-run homer in the seventh inning, leading the Toronto squad in Major League Baseball to a 4-3 series win in the best-of-seven series. Next up are the Dodgers, the team that is the current crown, in the forthcoming championship.
"I'm just so happy for everyone here, our city, Canada," Springer stated, a key player of the Houston Astros team that claimed the 2017 championship. "What an amazing experience."
Springer has now slugged twenty-three post-season home runs, ranking him third on the list trailing only Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Jose Altuve (twenty-seven).
"I can't think of anyone else in the world that I want up in that situation except for him with his October magic," said Schneider.
Seattle's team, despite leading the early in the series, remain the sole team that has never reached in a Fall Classic.
Mariners manager Dan Wilson commented "certainly that it hurts" following his club's elimination at Rogers Centre, but praised their efforts this season.
"They're an exceptional squad. Sadly that we had to come out on the wrong side of the series," he continued.
Toronto secured the title on both previous visits in 1992 and '93, and are set to host the Los Angeles in the first game on the upcoming Friday.
