The Reform UK leader Claims Teachers of ‘Indoctrinating Children’ on Racial Topics

Nigel Farage has asserted that educators would initiate walkouts within weeks a Reform UK election victory, charging that they are “poisoning our kids” by instructing students that black pupils are victims and Caucasian students are perpetrators.

During an event for a Michigan-based religious institution, the politician expressed his viewpoint on British schools, claiming that the “radical left-wing” had “now in control of our education system”.

“I’m anticipating a teachers’ strike soon after winning the next general election,” Farage commented during a Q&A session.

“They are corrupting young minds. They are telling them to be ashamed of their country. They inform little Johnny, who’s eight, who is black that he is a victim and little Oliver, who is white, who is eight that he is a perpetrator. They are dividing us, instead of fostering unity. They are feeding this negative culture.”

In response to these assertions, Daniel Kebede dismissed the notion that the education system was controlled by Marxists as “nonsense”. He pointed out that industrial action must relate to teachers’ terms and conditions, and doubted whether the party would target these immediately upon entering government.

“The politician has crafted his public life on coded rhetoric and now, like Trump, he is lining up teachers and their unions for a conflict,” Kebede stated.

“I think that’s grossly irresponsible. Neither I nor our union – push critical race theory as he’s suggesting … Should he become prime minister he would undermine state services, particularly schooling … and the outcome would be catastrophic for students and learning.”

The party, which is leading the polls by about 10 points, has not set out much detail on a proposed education policy and seems not to have appointed an education spokesperson.

However, Farage’s remarks suggested the party would overhaul the system and the curriculum. Farage declared: “We have got a massive job with education – truly monumental. Moreover, it won’t happen quickly; it requires years, a long-term effort to reform.”

Farage expressed that younger generations are receptive to critical thinking, but older youth were “completely lost”.

Honoring a conservative activist, he commented: “All I want education to do to teach critical thinking – to instruct people that multiple perspectives exist and you make up your own mind as opposed to what’s happening now where one is virtuous and one is evil. This is a huge undertaking in both Britain and America.”

Reform has previously clashed with a major educators’ organization, after Kebede called the party “extremist and prejudiced” and described the leader as “a cheap imitation”.

Farage has accused the union head with being “an avowed radical” … someone who is absolutely determined that our children should be poisoned at school, their minds should be poisoned regarding national issues” and has argued that the organization seeks to brainwash youth opposed to his party.

Almost one million people are employed in education in the UK, with educators comprising half and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The leading teachers’ organization has hundreds of thousands of members.

National strikes over educators’ salaries and work environment in 2023 led to significant interruptions in schools and extensive missed instruction for students.

At the US event, the Reform leader also vowed to promote the online educational material of the institution in the UK. He stated such groups were “key to resistance”, adding that: “I am serious. I will help garner hundreds of thousands, if not millions of youth to your online courses. I pledge this tonight and I’ll do that.”

The institution, a small private Christian college, provides complimentary classes. Its website states: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is vital for well-being and to maintain the benefits of civil and religious liberty. It offers these beautiful courses for free to all who wish to learn.”
