An TikTok content creator who killed her mother's lover and his friend in a fast-paced car chase has had her sentence lowered by the Court of Appeal.
Mahek Bukhari was jailed for a minimum of 31 years and eight months in late 2023 for her involvement in the killings of one victim and Hashim Ijazuddin, both 21, in February 2022.
Nevertheless, on Friday the term was reduced to 26 years and 285 days after appeal judges concluded the sentence had not considered her youth.
Another three people - members of the initial group jailed for the killings - have also had their sentences lowered.
Presenting a overview of the ruling in the courtroom, Lord Justice Warby said: "The court official did not provide sufficient consideration for the reality that the defendant [Mahek Bukhari] was an immature 22-year-old at the moment of these crimes."
The court proceedings heard the killings came after efforts by the defendant's mother - Ansreen Bukhari - to end her affair with the victim, who had threatened to publish sexually explicit material of her if she did not pay him £3,000.
Legal authorities claimed the victim and Mr Ijazuddin, residents of Oxfordshire, were "enticed" to "a final encounter" with the Bukharis in a Tesco car park in Hamilton, Leicester, under the pretence of returning the money.
But the Bukharis and accomplices ambushed the two men, chasing Mr Ijazuddin's vehicle along the highway in Leicester in two vehicles, intentionally ramming them off the road, the trial heard.
At the Appeals Court hearing in London on October 17th, the defense attorney had contended her age and "lack of maturity" should have led to a reduced term.
The defense counsel stated before the defendants decided to travel from their residence near Stoke-on-Trent to Leicester, Saqib Hussain had threatened to distribute the sexually explicit material he had of Ansreen.
However Lord Justice Warby said Mahek's response to the extortion was "disproportionate" and it was "hard to see any real link between the victim's actions and the events on the A46 that led to the fatal outcome."
Nevertheless, he conceded Mahek's "youth and her recognized lack of maturity were insufficiently considered", and should have "exerted a significant reducing effect on the minimum term."
Other Accused Receive Sentence Adjustments
Ansreen Bukhari, Rekan Karwan and Raees Jamal were additionally jailed for murder.
Natasha Akhtar, another participant and Sanaf Gulamustafa were imprisoned for manslaughter. Akhtar was given to over a decade, Ameer Jamal was received nearly 15 years and the third was sentenced to 14 years and nine months in prison.
Lord Justice Warby, another justice and the third official also determined the unlawful killing terms given to Akhtar, the second and the third were too severe.

Jamal's sentence was lowered to under 13 years, while another had his term cut to similar duration and the third's was lowered to under a decade.
Lord Justice Warby continued: "We believe undeniable that the car chase carried a high risk of death or really serious harm and that this should have been apparent to all those in each car."
But he further stated that the "minor role of every participant" should have had a "powerful downward impact" on the terms, and reduced every sentence by two years.
He stated: "We believe, the judge erred in striking the overall balance of aggravation and mitigation.
"The sentences for all these appellants were manifestly excessive. They should definitely have been substantially lower."
