Tragedy Strikes as Inadvertent Explosion at Law Enforcement Facility in Kashmir Region Under Indian Control Claims Nine Deaths
A tragic blast at a police station in the Indian-controlled part of Kashmir has led to the fatalities of nine individuals and harm to thirty-two additional people, according to authority reports.
The incident occurred when a cache of seized explosive materials unintentionally detonated during processing activities.
Sequence of Occurrences
The detonation took place on the evening of Friday at the Nowgam security post, where blast substances seized from the Faridabad area in the northern province of Haryana state were being stored temporarily.
Local police chief declared that the detonation substances were awaiting technical investigation when a "deeply regrettable" accident during processing led to their blast at approximately 23:20 local time.
Authority Statements
Security forces asserted that this was an "unintentional explosion" and as opposed to a terror incident. "Different conjectures regarding the cause of this occurrence is unneeded," emphasized the security director during a media conference.
The security post endured extensive destruction from the explosion, with neighboring structures also being affected by the strong explosion.
Aftermath and Victims
Numerous cars were "covered in blaze and transformed into ashen remains, with wreckage spread across the site," according to official reports.
"The force of the blast was such that some human remains were found in nearby houses, approximately 100-200 metres away the police station," reported an authority informant.
Most of the victims were security officials, along with technical investigation team, two investigative imaging experts, and a garment worker who was with the team.
Administration Response
The region's Administrative Head conveyed commiserations and confirmed that an investigation had been ordered into the devastating event.
"I have ordered a investigation to ascertain the origin of the unintentional blast. Extremely pained by the fatalities of important persons due to exceptionally devastating unintentional explosion at Nowgam law enforcement facility in Srinagar. My commiserations to the grieving relatives. I pray for rapid recuperation of the harmed," stated the authority on online channels.
