Vinted Users Share Anger Regarding Size Updates
Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to products showing incorrect sizing.
The popular resale platform has updated its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel but did not contact every member regarding the update.
Online Platforms Backlash
Countless users and merchants are posting online claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification than originally posted because of the remapping.
The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with similar services.
It has advised users to review their products and update the measurements by hand if necessary, causing user dissatisfaction.
Sizing System Changes
Earlier, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
User Stories
A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they will likely be quite upset," she explained.
Required Changes
A different user, located in England, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she stated.
Platform Context
The app has more than 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK.
It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: earlier, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options after backlash from users.
